The plantation program was organized by Green Foundation Nepal (GFN), Green Forum Nepal, and local Community Forest User Groups (CFUGs) in six community forests in Dang District. The goal was to restore damaged forest areas, improve the environment, and involve local people in taking care of forests. Over 8.272 hectares of unused and degraded land were planted with trees like Acacia, Bamboo, Teak, and Bakaino. The program aimed to fight climate change, support wildlife, and provide economic benefits to communities through sustainable use of forest products. Activities included educational sessions to teach the importance of trees and community participation in planting and caring for the saplings. Each forest had specific goals, like improving soil, preventing erosion, and promoting biodiversity. Despite challenges such as ensuring the survival of trees and fair sharing of benefits, the program was successful due to the active involvement of the community. It created awareness about sustainable forest management and showed how working together can help protect the environment while supporting local livelihoods.
