Community forest users’ groups was developed with an intertwined objectives of biodiversity conservation and poverty reduction. As country has marched its way towards biodiversity conservation by almost half of its land mass covered by green vegetation, the second objective of the forest management system has been remained unattended. The recent trends have shown us the migration of the working force outside the country, the CFUGs are more concentrated with majority of women’s, old and children. Thus, to alleviate the poverty and ensure economic empowerment, the CFUGs need to offer some sort of economic incentives in the form of forest-based enterprises. There comes the role of Green Foundation Nepal, where it helps support the establishment of eco-friendly businesses, such as forest-based enterprise and eco-tourism, which not only provide sustainable livelihoods but also contribute to environmental conservation. GFN also promotes social inclusion and economic justice and actively engages with policymakers to advocate for sustainable policies and user-friendly provision that reflects the needs of local communities.
