An Exposure Visit of Nepali Parliament Members and local government representatives was held from 9th to 13th April, 2018 in Los Angeles, USA and Mexico. The objective of the exposure visit was to learn, review, and reflect on the processes and mechanisms of the current forest management systems and policies, to assist in the creation of the drafted Forest Rights Law in Nepal and the incorporation of forest-based enterprises within the Law.
The participants of the exposure visit were Hon. Parbat Gurung, Member of Federal Parliament, Hon. Ghanashyam Khatiwada, Member of Federal Parliament, Hon. Anita Devakota, Member of Upper House, Hon. Kamala Roka, Member of Federal Parliament, Hon. Munu Sigdel, Member of Provincial Parliament, Province 3, Hon. Bhumishour Dhakal, Member of Provincial Parliament, Province 5, Mr. Ghanshyam Pandey, Mayor of Tulsipur Sub Metropolitan City, Dang and Mr. Ashok Kumar Byanju Shrestha, Mayor of Dhulikhel Municipality, Kavrepalanchok.
The Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI), a non-profit organization registered in Washington, D.C. facilitated the visit and Green Foundation at Nepal coordinated the visit.
