Green Relief and Rehabilitation Fund (GRRF) was established on 29th of April, 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal with the objective to address the immediate needs of local communities in highly affected districts by the devastating earthquake of 25 April 2015. The organizations, which are working in the field of community forestry, sustainable forest management and securing rights of local community in natural resource management, are involved in GRRF consortium. So-far, thirteen organizations are engaged in this consortium.

Regular meetings has been ongoing at Udhami Ghar, Buddhanagar, Kathmandu within the members of consortium after the establishment of GRRF consortium with the objectives of

Sharing the activities and learning from relief distribution program
Planning for further activities and strategy for relief and rehabilitation support
Sharing the problems and issues seen in the community level
As per the decision of the first meeting, consortium bought about 1200 Tarpaulin (tents) and were distributed in seven districts (i.e. Dolakha, Kathmandu, Kavre, Bhaktapur, Shindhu, Makawanpur and Gorkha) to those family who are severely affected by earthquake.

Similarly, after the third meeting on 18 May 2015, the second phase relief materials were also distributed for 400 household in very effective 5 districts. The details information for second phase relief activity are as below:

Budget allocated for materials purchase: 10,00000 NRs (ten lakhs)
Benefited household: 400 households
Distributed districts and area: Five districts: Lalitpur (Gotikhel area), Kathmandu (Ramkot and different area), Dolakha (Bhimeshwor municipality and different effective area), Kavre (different area) and Shindhu (Khadichaur – Maghi community).
Distributed relief materials: Tarpaulin, Mosquito net, Metrecs and blanket.
Consortium continued its fund raising campaign through corresponding external networks both national and international. Likewise consortium team has also decided to continue rehabilitation program to the victim community by making their temporary house.

Dialogue in local and policy level to support the victim people through forest sustainability and policy addresses is also the long term strategy of GRRF consortium.
