Call for expression of interest for membership of the expert panels in the social, environmental and economic aspect of the national standard development for forest certification in Nepal.

This call is addressed to all stakeholders representing business and industry; non-governmental organizations; scientific and technologic communities; farmers and small forest landowners; workers and trade unions; local authorities; indigenous people; women and youth; wishing to be considered as the member of National Working Group (NWG) for the technical inputs into National Standard Development for forest certification.

Roles and Responsibilities of Members to be appointed

NWG shall be established on the basis of nominations received during public call. Total nine members will be represented in the NWG from three chambers (i.e. Environment, Economic and Social). The members of NWG will vote for a leader who leads the discussion and authorizes correctness and completeness of implementation of adopted decisions in to documents. The NWG will be established on the temporary basis for the period of standard development to the final standard preparation. The main responsibilities of NWG are:

  • Literature review, standard revision for forest certification, consultation in local to national level to collect the information and feedback for national standard of FC, stakeholder visit, enquire and working draft preparation, and documentation.
  • Facilitation in public consultations and for consensus building
  • Preparation of final draft including the comments and feedbacks taken from consultations


The NWG shall include stakeholders with expertise relevant to the subject matter of the specific standard, those who are materially affected by the standard and those that can influence the implementation of the standard. A person or organization representative expressing its interest should have own expertise in any of the three chambers described above.
